The simplest things can make the most difference.
I originally wrote these tips for an article published in a magazine. I came across them today and realised that they still apply. They may be short yet they are really powerful. Sometimes we dismiss ideas because they do not look as if they have any depth.
Learn from someone who has done it before?
Choose to use this principle. Take note of what others do, watch and see what works and what doesn’t. Ask questions when you’re with others and learn from them. You don’t have to make a mistake yourself – you can choose to learn from the mistakes others have made!
Success doesn’t happen overnight!
Many times we hear about actors or actresses who gain success overnight. In reality they have trained, practised, learnt their craft, persevered, taken bit parts, worked part time and retained their focus and passion. It can appear as an overnight success because they suddenly gain mass visibility. Success means being in it for the long haul.
Have a plan
A plan is not a wait list – it is a road map. Work out what you want to achieve and then plan how, when and what you will do in order to succeed. Decide how you will recognise your achievements as they happen and how you will know when have reached your outcome….
Action – just do it
We can plan, think, dream, talk, discuss, read and learn and yet if we don’t take action then we will not achieve. Learn to be a person of action. Write down what you need to do, prioritise and work through the list until you finish.
Procrastinating and intentionally putting off
Put off procrastinating for ever. Whenever you have difficulty doing something (something you don’t like or are not sure of) choose to do it at the beginning of the day before you do anything else! You’ll find that everything else in your day suddenly seems better. You’ll have more energy and you’ll be more focussed having completed that difficult task!
